1 A 20-year-old man, Gbenga Odunayo, on Wednesday appeared before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court charged with unlawfully wearing the uniform of the Nigerian Army.
Odunayo, whose address was not provided in the charge sheet, is standing trial on a two-count charge of impersonation and unlawful possession of a military uniform to which he pleaded not guilty.

2 The Prosecutor, Sgt. Alice Ojo told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Aug. 8 at 10:00 a.
3 m., at Odo-Ado Area in Ado-Ekiti.
4 Ojo said that the defendant allegedly represented himself to be a soldier in the Nigerian Army.
The prosecutor said that the defendant at the point of his arrest was wearing the uniform of the Nigerian army.

5 She contended that the offences, allegedly committed, contravened Sections 91(b) and 92(i) (a) of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State, 2021.
The prosecutor further prayed the court to grant an adjournment to enable her to study the case file and present her witnesses.

6 Counsel to the defendant, Mr Sunday Balogun, however urged the court to grant his client bail, with a promise that he would not jump bail.
7 The Chief Magistrate, Mr Michael Faola, granted the defendant n100,000 bail and  surety in like sum.
He adjourned the case until Sept. 27 for hearing.
