After a successful world premiere in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, notable Nollywood actress Monalisa Chinda will lead a band of actors, including Ejike Asiegbu, Don Kester, Tammy Abusi and Francis Duru, to breathe real life into the characters of the engaging stage play Philomena: Interview With A Prostitute in Abuja.
Written and directed by Nollywood veteran, Bimbo Manuel and produced by the theatre focused production company K’IKE Productions, Philomena will be staged at the NAF Officers Mess and Suites, Kado, Abuja from July 22, through July 24.
With two shows scheduled daily, the play centres on three characters who find themselves, by pure chance, in the same space at the same time, each with his and her personal issues that they would have carried with them if events do not force them out.
Monalisa Chinda who is joint Executive Producer with the writer Bimbo Manuel said Philomena: Interview With A Prostitute is a story that must be told and seen by all.
“I am happy to be doing this and I think it is a story that must be told and seen by all and we are working at taking it round the country as resources permit. I am particularly happy that we are taking it to Abuja. Apart from offering entertainment, we want to contribute to awakening the theatre going culture in the capital city.
“I also think it is particularly phenomenal that we are bringing Nollywood veterans together in one performance space in Nigeria’s sprawling capital city,’’ Chinda said, adding that there will be an exclusive show on Saturday July 24, at 7pm.
