The Taraba state deputy Governor Alhaji Haruna Manu has said called on Muslim faithfuls across the country to pray fervently as the country is in desperate need of redemption.
Manu made the call in Jalingo shortly after observing the Eid Prayer at the State University Praying ground.
Manu who said that the nation is going through the toughest time in the history of the country said that recent development with the attacks on Kuje Prison and the President’s convoy have shown that the threat to security of lives and property is enormous.
He maintained that as a nation “as a nation, we must set aside our differences and work to salvage the country. The threat is real. The danger is imminent. Nobody is safe. And so we must pray and stay vigilant to safe our country”.
Meanwhile, the Speaker of Taraba State House of Assembly Professor Joseph Albasu Kunini has felicitated with Muslim faithfuls across the state on the occasion of Salah.
In a Salah message issued in Jalingo on Saturday, Kunini urge Muslims “to use the unique festival of sacrifice and supplications to pray earnestly for divine intervention as insecurity bedeviling the country stretches to alarming and dangerous dimensions.
He further enjoins Muslims to emulate the virtues of Prophet Mohammed which include love, patience, tolerance, generosity, sincerity, humility, high moral excellence and, above all, fear of God.
Similarly, the permanent Secretary for Bureau for Local Government And Chieftaincy Affairs Alhaji Bello Yero has called on Nigerians to massively register and obtain their voters cards so that they can effect positive change in the country.
Yero who spoke with Journalists at his residence in Jalingo said that from all indications, things are not easy and the only way to effect a change is to come out and vote for the right people.
He called on the youth to stay resist the temptation to be used as thugs and urged traditional rulers to use their positions to strengthen vigilance in their respective domains.
Daily Sun reports that the celebration was generally peaceful in Jalingo and environs.
